Poor Excellent

Look and feel

The Nokia N79 is a candybar phone with a large 2.4-inch screen. With its white fascia and customisable-colour rear casing, it’s a nice looking device and it feels well balanced in the hand. However, the keys are meanly proportioned and this affects the user experience.

Ease of use

The S60 user interface is as intuitive and user friendly as always. However, because of the poorly designed keypad with its thin, uncomfortable keys and unresponsive navi wheel, the overall user experience is poor, which is not something you can often say about a Nokia phone.

Features

As is the case with Nseries, the N79 has an excellent feature set, with the five-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss components, Wi-Fi, HSDPA and A-GPS the pick.

Performance

If you can overlook the fiddly keypad, the phone performs admirably, whether you’re taking photos, browsing the web, listening to music, or using the location-based functionality.

Battery life

The N79 serves up over five hours of talktime which is perfectly acceptable.
