Sony Ericsson HBH-GV435 Review
Sony Ericsson has long favoured an elongated form for its Bluetooth headsets, most successfully with models like the HBH-610a and the marathon talker Akono HBH-300. For its latest headset, the HBH-GV435, the Japanese manufacturer has migrated to the behind-the-ear format and on initial impression, it seems like a triumphant move.
With a design quite unlike any other handset on the market, the GV435's strength lies in its firm grip around the ear. With a flexible arm that manoeuvres to give an extremely comfortable fit, the grip nestles snugly but tightly behind the lobe. In fact this is one of the most comfortable headsets ever to grace Mobile Choice's lugholes. Another boon is that the earpiece swivels 180°, so it's possible to wear in either ear.
Turn on the GV435 and it automatically hits pairing mode, eradicating any awkward connecting procedures. Its call performance was also as lucid, with the conversation quality perceptive and distinct.
Occasional muffling did occur but mostly dialogue was clear on both ends and echo free. The call handling button is situated at the top in an accessible curved ridge, but the volume switch is located behind the ear, making it tricky to get good purchase and boost the noise. In fact we found it easier to adjust the volume on the handset, which rather defeats the object of using a Bluetooth headset.
Nevertheless, despite this niggle the HBH-GV435 is a consummate performer and if comfort is a major consideration when purchasing a Bluetooth headset, then look no further.
