i-mate Ultimate 9502 ReviewRed starRed starRed star White star White star

Poor Excellent

Look and Feel

The Ultimate 9502 is encased in slimming black which doesn’t quite disguise its large and bulky dimensions or its weight.

Ease of Use

The miniature keyboard is a little squished, but the high resolution screen is a usability highlight.

Features

Wi-Fi and HSDPA are here, as is HSUPA for faster uploads as long as your network supports it. GPS and output to a TV are among the other highlights.

Performance

The processor ran a little slow for our liking and we found it irritating to wait for it to catch up with our screen taps at times.

Battery Life

Battery life was reasonable, though with GPS and Wi-Fi on board you are likely to work it hard.

i-mate Ultimate 9502

Pros: The TV-out feature is fun and could be very useful.
Cons: The 9502 is relatively large and heavy and the processor ran slow at times.

Verdict: There is no shortage of features, although you’ll need big pockets to stow the kit away.
