Sony Ericsson W660i ReviewRed starRed starRed starRed star White star

16 November 2007  |  Avg user rating: RatingRatingRatingRatingRating

Poor Excellent

Look and Feel

Sony Ericsson is making a lot of the designer look of the W660i. There are two designs, a black one for men and a flowery one for women. It's well made and handles beautifully, and the keypad is spacious and great for texting.

Features

The Walkman music player is the star of the Sony Ericsson W660i, and sounds great even though the supplied headphones. And FM radio and music recognition software add to the fun. Bluetooth, a two-megapixel camera and memory card slot aid its entertainment profile.

Ease of Use

The Sony Ericsson W660i has a great keypad that works for even the fat-fingered. The user interface is a agreeable as ever, and shortcuts are accessed easily.

Performance

The Walkman music player sounds great through the supplied in-ear headphones and even better through Bluetooth or regular headphones. The low resolution screen lack crispness, and photos come out pasty because of the lack of photographic aids.

Battery Life

Six hours of talktime is pretty good, and means you can listen to your tunes and chat for a good long time between charges.

Sony Ericsson W660i

Pros: The whole Walkman music experience is seamless, right from the PC software, through to transferring your songs and finally listening on the fully-feature, superb sounding music player.
Cons: Compared to recent Sony Ericsson handsets like the W810i and K750i, the W660i's two-megapixel camera is poor.

Verdict: While the new W660i is a highly capable music phone and a tad swisher than fellow Walkman candybars, its oh-so-familiar design still failed to inspire us.
