E-Ten Glofiish X500+ Review

16 November 2007  |  Avg user rating:

Poor Excellent

Look and Feel

The handset is neatly put together and compact for a smartphone, even if the styling is functional rather than inspiring. It's sturdily built though - like the IBM of smartphones.

Features

On the plus side, this Windows Mobile 6 smartphone has built-in GPS, Wi-fi and a large, high resolution touchscreen. However, data speeds are EDGE rather than 3G.

Ease of Use

Windows devices are fairly easy to get to grips with, considering their functionality, and the E-TEN Glofiish X500+ is no different.

Performance

The Namecard Manager feature - which allows you to photograph a business card and store the information - was a little erratic, and the camera is average. Otherwise a solid performance all-round.

Battery Life

A little weak on the juice if the truth be told. Not the worst out there, but many smartphones offer better battery life.

E-Ten Glofiish X500+

Pros: The built-in GPS sat-nav works very well.
Cons: The glofiish X500+ is not the smallest Pocket PC, nor is it the least expensive.

Verdict: Thanks to a combination of hardware and software features that are difficult to beat, the sheer ebullience of what is on offer deserves a second glance.
