New clamshell handset released by Chinese company
Chinese-based company, ZTE, has released its new mobile phone, the C79, initially into the American market. The new handset is based on a clamshell design and packs 176 x 220 pixels into its internal display whilst showing 262k colours. When closed, the phone displays an external screen of 96 x 64 pixels with 64K colours.
A built-in camera is included but its specification is a rather lowly 1.3MP. It does, however, come with auto focus, flash and a self timer. A music player is joined by easy to use music-specific buttons with just 69Mb of internal memory. Not enough for music use of course which is where the microSD slot comes into play as it provides up to 2Gb of extra memory.
According to the Softpedia website, the phone measures 3.5 x 1.75 x 0.7in. The handset arrives with a 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery that caters for 3.6 hours of talk-time or up to 200 hours of stand-by time.
