Asus to make Microsoft handset
When Microsoft revealed the Windows Phone 7 Series operating system at the recent MWC 2010 show in Barcelona, Spain, it did so on a new handset that, said the company, would not be commercially available. That particular demo model handset was created by Asus (known for its collaborations with Garmin) for the event. However, the word is that Asus has been working on a final design that will ultimately be utilised by Microsoft and presented as a Microsoft smartphone.
According to The Street website, the new Microsoft handset will be launched in early 2011 with the Windows Phone 7 Series OS as standard. Part of the reason for the late date is reported setbacks during manufacturing. Before that grand launch, however, there should be a range of other phones already on the market that supports the new Microsoft OS via companies such as Sony Ericsson, HTC, Toshiba, LG and Samsung.
