Welcome to the 5 megapixel Nokia N82

19 November 2007

Nokia's new N82 features a top camera, GPS enabled sat nav and high speed internet access.

Featuring A-GPS (assisted global positioning by satellite), a 5 megapixel camera, xenon flash, Carl Zeiss optics, and Wi-fi and HSDPA internet connectivity, the new N82 challenges the Nokia N95 8GB as the most complete N-series handset out there.

The device features A-GPS and pre-installed Nokia Maps, enabling navigation in the UK and abroad, plus access to over 15 million points of interest, including restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, galleries, etc. As with the N95, for extra features like voice guidance, you'll have to subscribe to the navigation package.

As for the camera, Nokia has delivered another 5 megapixel snapper, with a powerful Xenon flash, fast camera activation, auto focus and a dedicated autofocus assist lamp. The N82 also features DVD like video capture.

The Nokia N82 offers rapid internet access over Wi-fi, so users will have to be within range of a hot spot. However, when you're out of hot spot range, you'll still be able to browse speedily using HSDPA.

The Nokia N82 will be available for £317 pre-tax, when bought outside of a contract. Many operators are expected to offer a 2GB memory card as part of the deal.
