Operator claims 60% of people would rather keep current handset if it saved them money
Virgin Mobile is pushing its new SIM-only tariffs by unveiling research that one in ten people would be prepared to forego a handset upgrade in return for savings on their monthly bill. The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), who uses T-Mobile's network, claims that a SIM-only tariff can save a person between £60 and £180 per year.
Virgin Mobile, who claims to have 4.4 million customers, is part of Virgin Media who offer a combined deal of mobile and fixed-line telephony, broadband internet and television.
