Sony Ericsson showcases W705

06 November 2008

Walkman handset boasts Wi-Fi capabilities

Sony Ericsson has begun unveiling its 2009 products. The Sony Ericsson W705 is a slider handset that sports all of the familiar traits found in the Walkman range. As well as the Walkman player, the W705 features SensMe, which allows you to arrange your music in accordance to your mood; shake control, which allows you to change and pause tracks via a flick of the wrist; and the music recognition service TrackID.

What really catches the eye is that the W705 has built-in Wi-Fi, though there is no 3G or HSDPA so you will have to locate a Wi-Fi hotspot for broadband internet speeds. Other features include a 3.2-megapixel camera and built-in accelerometers. The phone will be available in 'luxury silver' and 'passionate red'.

Sony Ericsson has also used the opportunity to unveil the Wireless Home Audio System MBS-900. Operating via bluetooth or a 3.5mm line-in function, the MBS-900 will stream your music from your Walkman player or FM radio. In addition, the MBS-900 will cleverly mute your music when you receive a call, while the dual speaker and sub-woofer system promise a high quality audio experience.

Both the Sony Ericsson W705 and MBS-900 will be available to buy in Q1 2009.
