G1 available now for free on T-Mobile contracts
People began queuing as early as 5am yesterday morning as the Google Android phone first hit stores. T-Mobile's Oxford Street store opened early in order to allow eager shoppers the opportunity to be the first UK customers to get their hands on the much anticipated T-Mobile G1. The phone has made headlines for being the first mobile phone to operate on the Android open source mobile software platform, meaning anyone can create an application for the device. There are currently 50 applications available to download, ranging from ShopSavvy that allows you to scan a barcode to find the best priced products, to SplashPlay that aims to teach you how to play the guitar.
The T-Mobile G1 is available now for free from £40 a month on T-Mobile's Combi and Flext price plans and includes unlimited internet browsing.
