VoIP suppliers offer free and reduced texts to other Vyke users
Vyke Communications has launched its FreeTxt service. The application can be downloaded for free to any Symbian Series60 third edition mobile and will enable users to send and receive text messages for free. However, in order for a text to be sent for free, the recipient will need to also be a Vyke customer and be online; otherwise it will be sent at a discounted rate.
The service works by intercepting outgoing text messages and sending them to Vyke's server via the phone's internet connection. Customers can download the FreeTxt application from Vyke's website (http://www.vyke.com/) when they will receive a link to the FreeTxt download page urging them to install the application that will appear on the phone's messaging menu. Vyke users will then be able to text directly from their handset as they normally would but for free or at Vyke rates.
