New touchscreen handset is also waterproof and dustproof
The new Tetra TPad is a mobile phone that can take severe punishment and not be damaged. It is resistant to multiple hits, to shocks, is waterproof and dustproof too. In fact, it measures up to varying standards such as IP65 for both water and dust whilst it also complies with MIL-STD-810F for shock, vibration and temperature.
According to the Softpedia website, the handset itself is based on the Intel Xscale PXA263 Microprocessor running at 400MHz. It features 64Mb of SDRAM and 64Mb of ROM and comes with a touchscreen display spanning a large 4in. Expansion is pretty generous allowing from 16Mb to up to 2Gb of extra memory within a SD port. Bluetooth is also supported along with GPS, WLAN an Ethernet.
The only real fly in the ointment is the enormous price of, in the USA, $2,600. No news of UK distribution of price has yet been announced.
