T-Mobile cuts roaming charges by 80%

First of many moves to reduce the cost of using your mobile while abroad

T-Mobile has stated that the cost of using their USB dongle or data card while abroad will be reduced from £7.50 per megabyte to £1.50. The announcement will be welcome news to business users who use the net regularly while out of the country. The operator has added that in the coming months, the cost of sending a text from EU countries will be reduced by 38%, from 40p to 25p, while Euro Holiday Boosters will be introduced to allow prepay and pay-monthly customers more control over the use of their allowances and the costs of roaming.

 

The reduction in cost via a USB dongle or data card will take effect from 1 July, while cheaper text messages will be available from 30 August. Euro Holiday Boosters will be introduced by T-Mobile from 1 August and will include the following bundles:

  • £5   - Gives £7.50 of allowance that can be used on minutes or texts or any combination of the two
  • £10 - Gives £15.00 of allowance that can be used on minutes or texts or any combination of the two
  • £20 - Gives £30.00 of allowance that can be used on minutes or texts or any combination of the two
  • £30 - Gives £45.00 of allowance that can be used on minutes or texts or any combination of the two
