New interview suggests that Sony is looking for a way out
Reports say that the relationship between Sony and Ericsson is still not settled. Far from it, after Sony's chief executive was recently quoted in a German newspaper, the inference was that Sony might be actively looking to find a way to get out of the partnership deal and go its own way in the mobile industry.
According to the Reuters website, when asked whether Sony is planning to end its Sony Ericsson joint venture, Howard Stringer told the German newspaper, Die Welt: 'It's certainly been a difficult year but buying out a partner is never an easy thing. We have to work together again as we did two years ago. Or the joint venture will have to find its own solution. You're always engaged in discussion and negotiation. We and Ericsson are always discussing ways of making Sony Ericsson as successful as it possibly can be.'
