Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot to take on digital camera market

After initially being leaked on the internet, the Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot phone has now been officially announced. With an 8.1-megapixel camera, complete with real camera flash, digital zoom of up to 16x and red-eye reduction, the C905 is Sony Ericsson's most powerful handset to date. It is also the first time Sony Ericsson has used a slider design for one of its Cyber-shot range, similar to that found in designated digital cameras.

Other camera features found on the C905 include an auto-focus face detection that identifies people's faces and focuses in on them to provide a more detailed shot. Consumers will also be able to post pictures and videos direct to blogging sites as well as geo-tag their shots. Yet the Sony Ericsson C905 is not just about the camera. With HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS for navigation all on board, the C905 looks to be one powerful handset. The handset will be available in a choice of three colours: night black, ice silver and copper gold.

Sony Ericsson has also used the opportunity to announce the lesser-specced S302 Snapshot phone. Aimed at providing a camera experience for an affordable price, the S302 boasts a two-megapixel camera, with fixed-focus and up to 2.5x digital zoom, and is available in thunder grey and crystal blue.

Both the Sony Ericsson C905 and S302 will be available in selected markets from early Q4 2008.
