Manufacturer to reveal the next chapter in the Walkman phone story

A curious email from Sony Ericsson arrived in our inbox today. Its contents told us that not only has it now almost been three years since the launch of the first Walkman phone, but that we can expect an announcement regarding the brand on 22 July. We were also given a link to a website (http://www.sonyericsson.com/reveals/) which invites you to register for a live webcast while providing a second by second countdown until the big announcement.

So what could this announcement be? The mind boggles, though we have a sneaky suspicion that perhaps it might be when the elusive Sony Ericsson W980i finally lands. Originally announced back at Mobile World Congress in February we're still waiting to get hold of it, so perhaps 22 July will be the day. We'll of course keep you up to speed as and when we gain any additional info.
