Samsung gear up to release 8MP camera phone

15 July 2008

New Samsung i8510 smartphone due for release

A new Samsung smartphone, the i8510, will feature a high quality 8MP camera. The new handset will feature a camera that will exceed the specifications of many dedicated cameras and it will include an auto-focus and Xenon flash with video support included up to 120 fps. Based on the Symbian S60 system, the mobile phone will include a QVGA screen of 2.8in, supporting 16 million colours and over 240 x 320 pixels. Some will be a little disappointed that the screen won't be of a higher quality, however.

Other features will include WiFi and GPS plus HSDPA for fast data transfer. The phone will also include a TV out and, more interestingly, DivX for video plus dedicated 3D graphics support.

The Samsung i8510 mobile phone has a metal casing and measures 106.5 x 53.9 x 16.9mm. It also includes a battery of 120mAh. Internal memory will reach 16Gb capacity.

There's no UK distribution or price information as yet.
