Nokia has signed up music legend David Bowie and 40 music stores to promote its Music Recommenders website.
In an initiative to promote new artists from around the world and create a community of enthusiasts, visitors to the website can listen to a selection of songs every month from the specialist music stores (including Fat Beats in NYC and Mona Records in Japan), and can also buy the music they hear. Subscribers can receive 30 second samples tailored to their tastes.
David Bowie is taking the role of the 'godfather' and was picked because of his fanatical support, passion and knowledge of forthcoming music. He will be providing podcasts and features and appear in a short film directed by Wim Wenders.
