Nokia has finally announced the official on sale date of the much anticipated Nokia N96.

The powerful Nseries device will be available to buy on Wednesday 1 October at 3, Carphone Warehouse, Orange, Phones 4u, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

The handset rivals the iPhone in terms of memory with 16GB built in, plenty of room for storing all your media content. Watch up to 40 hours of video on the 2.8-inch display, and the kickstand allows you to position the handset on a flat surface for handsfree viewing. Other features include a five-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, a 3.5mm headphone jack port and built-in 3D stereo speakers, and built-in A-GPS with Nokia's mapping service.

Nokia has also wetted our appetite by stating that we can expect some additional content on the N96 to be announced in the coming weeks.
