Has Nokia's new handset been hit by the credit crunch?
Nokia's new foray into the realm of touchscreen mobile phones, the 5800 XpressMusic, has been hit by a large price rise prior to its official launch into the UK. The recent price, measured in Euros at the moment, has been 279 Euros. However, it was recently reported by Engadget that a new price has been revealed in Spain of 429 Euros - that's a rise of over 50%. The rise surely relates to the fluctuations in the world's currency markets after the realisation of the world recession. It is currently unknown what the final UK price may be - it might be an idea to brace yourself.
Operating on the Symbian S60 operating system, we can expect a host of downloadable applications, with Nokia's OVI platform sure to benefit. The touch-screen itself is an impressive 3.2-inches; while a 3.2-megapixel camera complete with Carl Zeiss lens is also onboard.
