Nokia's affordable navigation phone

09 December 2009

New design to include both Maps and GPS

Amongst the glamour of the 3G Booklet and the announcement of the new Symbian^3 OS, Nokia has announced the forthcoming launch of a new mobile phone that is being slated as its most affordable navigation phone from the company - it will include both GPS and the Maps service.

To be known as the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition, the new handset includes turn by turn driving navigation complete with an attendant voice guidance system as well as straight line navigation plus an integrated digital compass to boot. The Maps that you need will be resident on the phone which means that, if you cannot access the Internet, then the phone will still be usable.

Other features available on the new design will include a 2.2in QVGA display plus a 3.5mm headphone port for music fans and Bluetooth 2.1 for the wireless connection of accessories.

A stereo FM radio will be available for entertainment purposes along with RDS plus a built in camera rated at a basic 2-megapixels. A 2GB memory card will be made available in the box.

Expect a second quarter release for €110, complete with a car charger and holder.
