Expect to see mobile Firefox browser version by 2010
Mozilla has declared that it is currently developing a mobile version of its Firefox browser. The mobile version of the popular browser is targeted for a release date in 2010. Currently, Microsoft has a successful browser in use by many smartphones which is currently running at version 6.1 and Opera has a browser which many other handsets utilise. It, therefore, makes sense that Mozilla enters this growing and increasingly competitive sector.
According to the PC Authority website, Mitchell Baker, chairman of the Mozilla Foundation, declared that, "There are also other broader goals that Mozilla might take on. Proposals to date include education, open source evangelism in general, open everything, assisting online communities with participatory tools. These discussions will pick up steam as Mark Surman joins us. Having a set of goals for our product and technology development will also provide valuable input into that discussion."
