Motorola celebrates moon landing with limited edition handset

AURA Celestial Edition comes preloaded with NASA content and an etched on quote

It's a little known fact that it was a Motorola radio transponder that broadcast the first ever words and television pictures when Apollo 11 became the first vessel to land on the moon. In honour of that momentous occasion nearly 40 years ago, Motorola has unveiled a limited edition of their extravagant AURA handset. Fundamentally the same handset as the original complete with luxurious liquid-crystal display and circular screen, the Motorola AURA Celestial Edition is packed with content that celebrates the moon landing on 20 July 1969.

Content includes video footage, stills and sound files including Neil Armstrong's "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The handset will also be etched with the quote, "Motorola AURA Celestial Edition, Honouring the Apollo 11 mission, 20^th July 1969", and will come with nine specially commissioned postcards.

The Motorola AURA Celestial Edition is expected to be on sale from early July until the end of the year from selected retailers. However, don't expect it to be cheap with the original costing a whopping £1,400.
