Initial sightings of Motorola's new, 'old' handset have been made

Early sightings of the Motorola V70 Retro mobile phone have been made, as can be seen by the accompanying, flash-marked snap. The V70 Retro is heavily reminiscent of the original V70, which gave us that rather idiosyncratic swing opening mechanism which took us all so long to get used to. The main feature that has been added to the Retro is a rumoured built-in camera that is rated at a very healthy five megapixels. No further specifications have been mooted.

This particular re-issue is likely to be targeted as a fashion phone, rather than as a boundary breaking technology release, according to the Ubergizmo website. It is also thought that the phone will be bracketed as quite a costly handset. Will this mobile phone form a part of Motorola's big comeback?

No UK release date or UK price point has yet been mooted.
