Motorola Atila tri-band UMTS/HSDPA mobile phone spotted

21 August 2008

New Motorola touch-screen handset to run on Windows Mobile Professional

The new Motorola Atila has been seen in the wild. The new smartphone handset will include tri-band UTMS/HSDPA for faster data coverage over more mobile territories than many of its competitors. The phone also supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, which means that the handset should be useful in just about any mobile territory in the world.

The mobile phone, according to the Boy Genius website, does resemble the upcoming Alexander, but with the built-in QWERTY keyboard removed from the chassis. Instead, the Atila is operated solely via its touch-screen which spans 2.8 inches and is QVGA in resolution.

The new smartphone is reported to run on Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 and will also support Wi-Fi for greater connectivity. The accompanying battery is apparently a 1130 mAh unit which is standard fare.

There are no details on a release date for the UK or a UK related price point.
