Marketplace and dev tools revealed
More details on the forthcoming Windows Phone 7 Series project have been revealed as the MIX10 conference, a forum for web designers and developers, got into full swing.
Top of the list was a rebranding. It seems that the Windows Mobile marketplace will become the Windows Phone Marketplace. Once operational, customers will be able to try the featured apps before they buy and support will be offered for one-time card purchases, ad-funded apps and operator billing.
Microsoft also declared that a range of tools are also available for the Windows Phone 7 Series. These include the animation plug-in, Silverlight, XNA Game Studio 4.0, Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone, the testing app - Windows Phone 7 Series Emulator and a Visual Studio 2010 RC app.
Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president, for the .NET Developer Platform, added that, “By extending our familiar platform technologies and tools to phones, Microsoft is delivering the premier application development experience across a variety of devices and form factors.”
