Ad agency selected to sell forthcoming smartphone
McCann Ericson, one of America's largest and most influential ad agencies, has been selected by Microsoft to create a marketing campaign for the Pink phone. Yes, that one.
Pink, the codename for a new Microsoft-branded smartphone, has been the subject of intense speculation for many months with claim, counter-claim, rumours and denials leading some observers to declare that any such proposed project was dead and buried. Not so, it appears. In fact, the word is that the new Pink smartphone will run the company's forthcoming Windows 7 operating system. Apparently, the Pink will feature its own user interface, called Purple, which will be developed by Danger, that will sit on top of the Windows 7 core engine, according to the ZDNet website.
Speculation has it that the new handset will appear on the market before the year's end - right about the time when the Windows Mobile 6.5 phones are due to appear too.
