New LG handset with touchscreen and light sensor
More news about the new LG VX9700 Dare mobile phone has been revealed. Firstly, the new handset will include a touchscreen with handwriting recognition. LG is probably the most enthusiastic proponent of this particular genre of interface technology. It will also include EVDO Rev plus a light sensor which keys into the backlight and adjusts automatically to give you optimum viewing. A proximity sensor is also included. This feature shuts the LCD display when a phone call is incoming and allows you to answer it. Additionally, an accelerometer has been fitted to help with the screen orientation from portrait to landscape.
According to the Phone News website, VGA video recording has been implemented along with a HTML browser and multi-tasking support. You get GPS support too via a Navigator software add-on plus expansion support via microUSB and microSDHC ports plus Bluetooth 2.0 support.
The handset is due for online release at the end of this month with a US-based High St. release during mid-July. No UK release date or price has yet been announced.
