Ikea to offer mobile prepay deal

Flat-pack furniture giant to launch prepay sim card package for families

Ikea is the latest retail giant to become a mobile virtual network operator by offering its Ikea Family Loyalty programme members a prepay Sim card package. The service will run on the T-Mobile network.

Ikea says that Family Mobile has no hidden charges and its Ikea Family members will only pay for the air time they use. The plan offers calls for 9p a minute for all UK calls and 6p for all UK text messages.

Customers have the option of a family account with a number of Sim cards. The money in the account can then be administered to the registered Sim cards. Ikea claims that Family Mobile offers the lowest pay as you go prices in the UK and that customers can keep their own number.

Today, Ikea will present every one of its 9500 co-workers in the UK a free Family Mobile Sim card with £5 of pre-loaded credit and a mobile phone.
