HTC's consumer phone boasts a touch-screen 3D interface
HTC is turning their attention to a more consumer-focused market with the launch of their HTC Touch Diamond. It's small in design - only 110g - and the Touch Diamond's spec sheet is bursting with features. The handset makes the most of the 7.2Mbps HSDPA speeds as well as HSUPA wireless connectivity, with a customised YouTube application allowing you to stream video content. In addition, turn the device onto its side and built-in accelerometers will automatically turn the screen into landscape view. Furthermore, webpages readjust in front of your eyes to optimise the amount of content on display.
Following the success of HTC's TouchFLO, the Touch Diamond is the first device to sport TouchFLO 3D, providing animated icons on the user interface. Mobile Choice were particularly taken with the weather updates, with moving rain clouds and beaming suns vividly indicating what type of weather you could expect. HTC were particularly keen to stress that the HTC Touch Diamond could be operated with just one hand and one finger.
The HTC Touch Diamond will be available on all networks from June, though Orange is taking advantage of their long-standing relationship with the manufacturer. The operator will offer a range of their services on the device, including Orange Photo, Orange Music, Orange downloads (including wallpaper, ringtones and 3D games), as well as Orange Mobile TV.
