HTC Bravo to launch on Orange

09 February 2010

New Android device to replace HTC Hero

Well, the worst kept secret in mobile just got a little more exposure. While HTC's press team continues to deny its existence, Orange has just released a stock update that lists the HTC Bravo for a March launch.

According to Omio, a leaked file (see second photo) also showed the Android-powered Bravo on an Orange page, listing specs we already know about: a speedy 1GHz microprocessor, 3.7-inch AMOLED touch-display and five-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash. Less excitingly, the image lists a RAM of just 320MB - will that really be enough for all the apps that we plan to force that 1GHz chip through?

Orange also noted in the stock update that the HTC Bravo would 'replace the HTC Hero', previously Orange's flagship Android phone. Of course, the Hero, currently running on the first version of Android, will be upgradeable to Android 2.0. But the Bravo comes out of the gates on Android 2.1, and it's questionable whether the Hero's hardware will be able to power this version of the OS.

The update also listed the Nokia X6 music phone for a February launch, and Sony Ericsson's high-def video phone, Vivaz, for a March launch.
