Convert and transfer video from the Web directly to a BlackBerry smartphone
Known for its software video player for the PC, where it is widely used, RealNetworks has now introduced RealPlayer SP for the Blackberry mobile phone, a utility which allows users of the Blackberry Bold, Curve, Storm and 8800 series of mobiles to convert and transfer video from the Internet directly to their phones for viewing at any time.
The utility also accesses the microSD memory slot to allow support up to 16GB per card. Jeff McDowell, Vice President, Global Alliances at Research In Motion said that, "With RealPlayer SP, RealNetworks has made it very quick and easy to take video from their desktop and mobilise it on their BlackBerry smartphone."
According to the company, RealPlayer SP Beta is available as a free download from here. Support for h.264 video conversion, DVD playback and DVD burning is available to those who upgrade to RealPlayer Plus SP at a one-time cost of £24.99.
