Free app uses augmented reality to locate nearby restaurants
Popular online dining and restaurant service toptable is now available as a free app for the iPhone. Users will be able to find and then book restaurants near to their location, while it keeps its online community feel by including user reviews and recommendations. The toptable app uses augmented reality, which it calls ‘table reality’, that enables users to simply hold up their phone to get nearby restaurants displayed on the screen. Other features include a ‘tip calculator’, which may prove particularly useful when trying to determine how much gratuity should be left when dining abroad. The ‘my sommelier’ feature meanwhile will advise you on what particular wines go with what dishes.
The toptable app for the iPhone is available for free now from iTunes and the Apple App Store and features 20,000 restaurants in 14 countries.
