APP WATCH: Google launches Gesture Search for Android

05 March 2010

Draw on your phone to search

Google has released a new app called Gesture Search which is available now for all Android operating systems from version 2.0 or higher.

The new Search app allows you to search for any items that may be stored on the smartphone including contacts or music, bookmarks of even other installed apps.

To do this, you just draw a letter on your screen. So, as Google has it, if you need to find your phone contact, Anne, just draw a letter ‘A’ onto the screen and all the words beginning with ‘A’ will be listed onto the screen. Additionally, once you’ve done a few searches, the app will begin to learn from your actions so lucky ol’Anne will pop to the top of the list when you search for that letter ‘A’ again.

To download Gesture Search, search for it in Android Market. You can get more information via the Google Labs page.
