Huawei's P9 went on sale last year and as revealed by Huawei, went on to become the company's most successful smartphone ever. By the end of 2016, the P9 and P9 Plus had notched up over 10 million unit sales worldwide, catapulting Huawei's overall smartphone sales to 33.59 million in the third quarter alone. Such was the success of the P9 series that Huawei went on to deepen its collaboration with Leica Camera AG by creating a new research and innovation centre at Leica's headquarters in Germany.
Huawei Mate 9 and Lenovo P2 are Three exclusives
Noted leakster Evan Blass today published a picture of the upcoming Huawei P10 flagship phone in three new colours- Blue, Gold and Green. These coloured variants will be in addition to White and Black coloured models which were leaked earlier.
The range of colours on offer is rare for a flagship phone, given that most phones arrive in two or three colour variants. It is not known yet if any of these variants will be a premium version of the phone or if the colour options will be limited to certain storage models like with the iPhone 7.

We have previously seen a leaked image of a premium Huawei P10 variant (shown below) with dual front cameras along with dual rear cameras. The variant also features a curved display with no bezels unlike the standard models. However, the variant didn't appear in Blass's tweet which suggests that the Black coloured variant could turn out to be the premium one.
Huawei P9 and P9 Plus were the first phones to feature German camera giant Leica's dual-lens rear camera design aside from aerospace-class aluminium panels with rounded edges, strong 2.5D glass screens, 2.5GHz processors and virtual-triple-antenna architecture to ensure fast mobile internet round the clock. With the upcoming P10, Huawei is expected to bring in many more features and capabilities.
As per a recent leak, Huawei may introduce the P10 and P10 Plus phones as early as next month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Unlike the P9's 5.2-inch display, the P10 is slated to feature a larger 5.5-inch one which will be curved at both ends and sport a Quad HD resolution. Huawei may also include its new Kirin 960 octa-core processor with the P20 and P10 Plus which will be capable of generating clock speeds of up to 2.4GHz. The Kirin 960 processor features four 2.4 GHz A73 cores, four 1.8 GHz A53 cores, an i6 co-processor as well as a new Mali-G71 GPU for improved graphic output and is also present in the Mate 9 phablet.

According to another report, Huawei P10 and P10 may field a new HiSilicon Hi3660 octa-core chipset but the report hasn't mentioned if the chipset will be more powerful or different compared to the Kirin 960. According to Trusted Reviews, Kirin 960 is based on a 16nm FinFET process whereas Snapdragon 835, which will equip most upcoming flagships, is based on Samsung's latest 10nm-based FinFET process. It remains to be seen if Huawei will go with its own chipset or rely on Qualcomm's more efficient, smaller and more powerful processor to drive sales.
Huawei P10 and P10 Plus may also feature up to 6GB or RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage with 32GB and 64GB as other possible variants. Considering that the P10 will sport a larger Quad HD display compared to a Full HD one in the P9, the P10 battery will need to be larger and will need to be accompanied by fast charging and battery saving technologies to offer the same, if not better, longevity to the phones. We can either expect Huawei to introduce a battery with a capacity of more than 3,000 mAh or the same with new quick charging and battery saving features.
Huawei P9, P9 Plus cross 10 million sales; Huawei inches closer to Apple's figures
Ever since the P9 and P9 Plus went on sale, Huawei has stuck with the dual-rear camera technology, featuring it in Honor 8 and Huawei Mate 9 among others. In the P10 and P10 Plus, Huawei is expected to include dual rear cameras again but with probably better resolutions, optical image stabilisation and other features. A recent leaked P10 benchmark revealed that the P10 may feature the same 12-MP and 8-MP rear cameras as in the P9. While this seems unbelievable considering the fact that the Mate 9 featured two 20-MP and 12-MP dual rear Monochrome and RGB cameras, we will wait for more leaks to appear before confirming the spec.
The 32GB Huawei P9 went on sale in the UK in May last year and was priced at just £449 with the larger P9 Plus retailing at £549. If Huawei manages to price the P10 at less than £450, it it may turn out to be the most popular phone of the year. However, considering how the devaluation of the pound following the Brexit vote affected prices elsewhere, the P10 may cost a bit more compared to the launch price of the P9.
