On Saturday, it'll be one full month since the first pre-orders for the OnePlus 3T began and while demand for the handset was quite healthy to start with, it's users won't get to taste Android 7.0 Nougat until around the end of the year. O2 are selling the OnePlus 3T on Pay As You Go since 17 November and 64GB and 128GB variants of the phone are priced at £417.99 and £456 respectively. The network is also offering a range of Pay Monthly tariff options for the handsets which start from £31 per month and you can check them on O2's website or the OnePlus online store for the UK.
OnePlus 3 to get a taste of Nougat this month!
Earlier today, OnePlus released the first wave of fixes and optimisations for the OnePlus 3T to improve it's performance but Android 7.0 Nougat is nowhere to be seen. The company has announced that Nougat will arrive before the end of the year so we're keenly following if it will be able to keep its promise, given how OnePlus has let down customers in the past in terms of delivery timelines or even pricing.
The new update, named OxygenOS 3.5.4 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, include an optimisation to reduce lag in the phone's performance when battery is below 5%. The update will also improve system stability, fix Flashlight Usability Issue in WhatsApp and restore GPS and Orientation Preferences when Battery Saving is turned off along with fixing various bugs that usually affect new phones.
After OnePlus, ZTE brings in an improved Axon 7 variant
Earlier, in an interview given to Android Authority, OnePlus had confirmed that OnePlus 3T will replace the OnePlus 3 in United States and Europe to begin with. While the OnePlus 3T will arrive with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow like the OnePlus 3, both phones will receive Android 7.0 Nougat and accompanying fixes before the end of the year. The website added that sales of the OnePlus 3 has been officially discontinued in these regions permanently.
The new OnePlus 3T features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an upgraded Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB of RAM, a powerful 3,400 mAh battery with Dash Charging functionality, 64GB and 128GB of storage, a fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C port, a 16-MP rear cam with Sony IMX 298 Sensor and f/2.0 aperture, a 16-MP front camera with Samsung 3P8SP Sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Compared to the OnePlus 3, it features improved cameras, processing power, a new display type and a more powerful battery.
