OnePlus 3 to get a taste of Nougat this month!

Amidst all the talk about OnePlus launching a new phone next week, we have now learnt that the OnePlus 3 will get a beta trial of the new Android 7.0 Nougat as early as this month.

Older OnePlus 2 handsets will also receive Android Nougat by next year.

OnePlus 3T launches 15 November and packs a Snapdragon 821 processor

Speaking to Engadget, Brian Yoon, Head of software at OnePlus, said that a Nougat beta "community" build will arrive for OnePlus 3 handsets this month and after initial beta tests are completed, the official Android Nougat OS will start rolling out to OnePlus 3 handsets before the end of the year. Over a period of time, the older OnePlus 2 handsets will also receive Android Nougat over the air but there's no fixed timeline for them. As of now, we aren't sure if OnePlus 3T (the device that will launch on 15 November) will feature Android Nougat or whether it'll receive the new OS around the same time as the OnePlus 3.

OnePlus 3 has turned out to be a major hit in Europe thanks to a low price point as well as a range of specifications and features befitting a much more expensive smartphone. The phone comes with an impressive 6GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 820 processor offering up to 2.2 GHz of power, a 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMLOED display and a 16MP rear camera with HD Mode, Auto HDR and Dynamic De-noise along with Optical Image Stabilization and Electronic Image Stabilization. It also features a powerful 3,000 mAh battery which can be boosted with OnePlus' Dash Charge technology which replenishes more than 60% of the phone's battery in 30 minutes.

Even though OnePlus hiked pricing of the OnePlus 3 from £309 to £329 following the Brexit verdict, it is still among the lowest-priced phablets compared to a lot of others with similar capabilities. OnePlus will be launching a new smartphone four days from now which is expected to replace the OnePlus 3 as the company's new flagship and which is expected to be priced a little higher than the former but still lower than £400.

OnePlus 3T will feature Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 821 processor which also powers Google's Pixel and Pixel XL phones. The upcoming phone is also expected to feature a new LCD display instead of an AMOLED one which is quicker to produce compared to AMOLED ones and will help OnePlus reduce the gap between demand and supplies in major markets like the US and Europe.
