Apple's new MacBook Pro: Specs, pricing and availability

Apple today launched its latest MacBook Pro in 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes and in three variants, two of then with the revolutionary Touch Bar.

Following Apple's tradition with new devices, the new MacBook Pros are thinner, lighter and more powerful than their predecessors.

Available in Silver and Space Grey, the new MacBook Pro, despite arriving in similar-sized variants as its predecessors, is much thinner and more sleek in appearance. The 13-inch MacBook Pro weighs just 3 pounds, is just 14.9mm thick and is 20% less in volume while the 15-inch one weighs 4 pounds, is 15.5mm thick and is lighter than its predecessor as well. All three variants feature touch pads twice their size in previous MacBook Pros and two of them feature Touch Bars- touch-sensitive keyboard controls which replace the function keys and let you control apps and folders the eay you want to.

Touch Bar adapts to the software you're using. It features Touch ID which lets users log in and make payments using their fingerprints and is supported by Apple T1 chip which comes with Secure Enclave to let you make secure purchases. Touch Bar has a dedicated Siri button, brightness and volume controls and function keys as well. If you're using mail app, Touch Bar lets you forward and reply to mails and gives quick typing suggestions. You can also browse through emojis on Touch Bar and use it to perform various functions on your favourite apps including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Skype.

In terms of specifications, the 15-inch MacBook Pro features an Intel core i7 processor with 2133 MHz of power, Radeon Pro graphics with 4GB VRAM which is 2.3x faster than its predecessor and comes in Polaris architecture. The 15-inch Pro version also features an ultra fast SSD with upto 2TB of storage and capable of speeds of up to 3.1 Gbps. The 13-inch MacBook Pro features Intel i5/i7 processor with 2133  MHz of power, a superfast SSD and 64MB dRAM. Thanks to these specs, the MacBook Pros are capable of offering graphics experience 130% better than last year's MacBook Pro and 60% faster gaming experiences to users.

The cheapest 13-inch MacBook Pro doesn't feature Touch Bar and will cost £1,449, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar will cost £1,749 and the premium 15-inch MacBook Pro will cost £1,949. If you order the cheapest one today, you'll receive yours between Saturday and Monday but if you pre-order any of the Touch Bar models, you will need to wait for another 3-4 weeks to receive them.
