Amazon launches Music Unlimited streaming service: All you need to know

Amazon has lit up the music streaming space once again by launching Amazon Music Unlimited, a no-nonsense streaming service that costs the same but offers a lot more to loyal fans.

Amazon Music Unlimited will take on the likes of Apple Music and Spotify in the coming months and it will be interesting to see if it manages to trump them both.

Amazon releases Echo and Alexa voice service in the UK today

Amazon Music Unlimited is yet to be launched in the UK, but like Amazon's Echo devices and Alexa AI service, they will be here soon. Like Apple Music and Spotify, Amazon Music Unlimited offers millions of songs along with flashy features but it stands out when it comes to benefits offered to loyal Amazon fans. Like Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited costs $9.99 a month in the U.S. but Amazon Prime members can avail the service at just $7.99 a month.

At the same time, those who have purchases Amazon' Echo devices will get to use Amazon Music Unlimited at just $3.99 a month, quite a bargain but the service will only work on Echo devices and not on smartphones. The Echo devices look a lot like your conventional wireless Bluetooth speakers and feature noise-cancellation, advanced voice-recognition and beam-forming technology to hear you clearly even if you're talking to them from another corner of your room.

Amazon's Fire HD 8 tablet costs £89.99 and has a 12-hour battery life

To make Amazon Music Unlimited even more endearing to Echo device users, Amazon have introduced new AI features to let Echo devices play exactly the kind of music you want them to play. For example, if you don't remember the name of a certain song but remember which year it was released, which genre it belongs to and who sung it, then your Echo will be able to find it for you. Similarly, you will be able to ask your Echo to play music belonging to certain genres, sung by your favourite artists or containing lyrics that you remember.

Once Amazon Music Unlimited launches in the UK, you'll be able to save a lot on monthly subscriptions if you buy or already own Echo devices. Amazon's Echo and Echo Dot devices cost £149.99 and £49.99 respectively and are available to purchase from the Amazon UK website as well as retail stores like Argos, Currys, John Lewis, PC World and Tesco.
