Earlier today, we compiled a list of tariff plans being offered by the four major networks and a number of high street retailers for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus handsets. Even though retailers are falling over each other trying to get a share of the spoils by offering the sweetest possible deals along with some add-ons, they are apparently so overbooked that delivery dates of purchased devices have been shifted to next month and beyond.
Scratch, burn, bend test results for the iPhone 7 are in! Here's how it does..
As per several reports, pre-orders for the iPhone 7 Plus handsets have exceeded those of iPhone 7 handsets in several countries, resulting in networks running out of handsets and some even not taking any further orders until fresh stocks arrive.
As per industry sources, if you buy an iPhone 7 Plus with a tariff plan from any of the major networks today, the tentative delivery date for the same could extend to the first week of November, if not later. We have also learnt that hundreds of customers who pre-ordered iPhone 7 Plus handsets from network operators and were supposed to get their handsets delivered today, have not received their handsets yet but may receive them by next week.
It is impossible to say by when sufficient stocks will be available or if Apple will get contract manufacturers to ramp up production of iPhones to meet existing demand. Yesterday, Apple released an official statement on the availability of new iPhones to warn customers that in-store availability of fresh handsets will be limited.
Apple iPhone 7 releases today: these are the best tariff deals
"Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them," said Apple.
UK network EE confirmed that they are working around the clock to ensure that those who pre-ordered and purchased iPhone 7 and 7 Plus get their handsets either on time or as quickly as possible. EE also confirmed that all UK iPhone retailers are now struggling to meet demand for the new iPhones and that it will keep buyers updated from time to time regarding delivery timelines.
