ASDA's new service is a result of a partnership with IDT which is a PIN-less international calling service in the US. The service will cost you no extra fees, expiry, connection charges, SIM, PIN or contract. However, it will only be available at any of ASDA's 600 stores in the UK during international holidays and certain occasions.
Three extends Feel at Home to 24 new countries
If you're loving the new rates, you can subscribe to the service and will never have to renew it again since it won't expire. You will also be able to add £5, £10 and £20 top ups whenever you need and based on your usage.
“Asda is excited to offer our customers a convenient and affordable way to call international destinations, with no hidden fees or charges. Minutes and credit never expire. Through our partnership with IDT, Asda Call time enables our customers to stay in touch with friends and loved ones no matter where they are in the world,” said Ashley Johnson, Project Manager at Asda.
EE finally gets on EU roaming wagon with 'roam like home' on 4GEE MAX plans
Roaming charges in Europe are set to be abolished by the summer of next year and if you're planning on travelling to the mainland before then, getting an ASDA call time service will surely save you a lot of money. ASDA isn't alone as a number of other MVNOs and network operators are offering great new deals for travellers. Recently, Three extended its Feel at Home service, which allows you to enjoy no extra charges for consuming minutes, texts and data in European countries, to 24 new countries, covering the entire mainland in the process.
Even though Three's Feel at Home service is not included in the network's recently-launched list of 'Essential' plans, Tesco Mobile has decided to scrap roaming charges altogether till September 3 to allow consumers to enjoy their European vacations in the summer. Tesco Mobile is charging zero roaming charges between 23 May and 3 September as part of a new offering named Tesco Mobile Home From Home. The offer will be applicable to 31 countries across Europe including France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece and Netherlands.
