The original Gear VR headset went on sale in the UK back in December of last year and was priced at just £80. Given that a number of advanced VR headsets like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR have been hogging the limelight in the months that followed, the timing for the launch of the new Gear VR seems just right.
The latest Galaxy Note 7 phablet comes with a VR-capable AMOLED display and given its large size, it will be apt for a VR headset offering a wide field of view. Weighing at 318g, the existing Gear VR offers a 96 degree field of vision and will enable you to view 360 degree videos and gaming content. While the company has improved on these specifications in the new Gear VR, it has also included built-in USB and Micro USB connectivity in the new headset.
If you pre-order a Galaxy Note 7, you will receive the new Gear VR headset as well and will also be able to buy them at Carphone Warehouse and other retailers. We will update you with pricing and delivery timelines as soon as they are announced.
