Samsung Gear S3 with rotating bezel to arrive in five variants

While Samsung's Gear S2 smartwatch appeared long after the Apple Watch was launched, its successor will launch just days before Apple releases Apple Watch 2, signalling a bitter contest for supremacy in the coming months.

Samsung is expected to upgrade the Gear S3 with new design features and spec modifications.

Samsung's Gear S3 smartwatch Solis, in the works

According to Sammobile, Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch may see the light of the day at IFA in early September. We already know that Apple may launch the Apple Watch 2 during the middle of the month, so September will be a great month for smartwatch buyers who will get to choose between arguably the two best smartwatches in the world.

Sammobile also adds that like its predecessor, the Gear S3 smartwatch will feature a rotating bezel and will come with a round watch face. While that may not come as a surprise, what we have also heard is that the Gear S3 will launch with five different variants, with two of them
offering SIM support.

It was also leaked back in May that the Gear S3, along with other Samsung wearables which will be launched in the near future, will feature Samsung's home-grown Tizen OS instead of Android Wear. Given that Samsung's recent track record on wearables may suggest that the company is slowly but surely moving away from Android Wear, a few company executives told Fast Company recently that no Android Wear devices are currently in development or being planned by Samsung. They said that this is because Tizen OS offers far better battery efficiency than Android Wear, making Samsung's wearables last longer.

Guess how many smartwatches Apple sold last quarter?

A recent report from Sammobile also revealed that Samsung may also launch Galaxy Tab S3 tablet at IFA along with the Gear S3. The existing Galaxy Tab S2 was launched in July of last year and it is possible that its successor will launch either in August with Galaxy Note 7 or in September at the IFA event. As of now, there have been no leaks or rumours on what the Galaxy Tab S3 will feature or will look like and we suspect if Samsung will even launch it this year, given that the company has already launched a larger Galaxy Tab Pro S as well as Galaxy Tab 4 Advanced with premium specifications and features.
