Three introduces cheap as chips 'essential' plans

Three has launched a series of Essential SIM-only and device contracts at minimal prices for customers with limited needs.

Three's Essential Plans will not include the network's Feel At Home service and will also not allow mobile data to be used as hotspots.

Three's Essential plans basically ensure that if you're looking for cheap SIM-only contracts or device contracts, you won't have to get in touch with a number of MVNOs but can get them straight from one of UK's largest mobile networks.

If you're looking for a SIM-only plan, Three's offerings start at £6 a month for a 12-month period which includes 500 MB of data, 200 minutes and All You Can Eat texts. There are two £12 a month deals, one of which offers 1GB of data and 600 minutes while the other offers 2GB of data and 200 minutes, giving you a choice depending on whether you like to make calls or connect with people on the social network.

Three is also offering a £18 a month SIM-only deal which will give you unlimited minutes and texts along with 4GB of 4G data. If you take this plan for a single month, you will need to pay £21 for it. Three has also ensured that these deals will be flexible so that you will be able to top up data and minutes and use data via mobile hotspot as well whenever you wish.

As far as handset contracts are concerned, Three's Essential Plans will be available for handsets like Apple iPhone 6s, iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, Samsung's Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy A3, Galaxy J3, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Sony Xperia X, Xperia M4, LG G5, LG G4, LG Leon, LG G4C, Honor 7, Honor 5X and Huawei Y3. Three is also offering Amazon vouchers worth £25 - £50 to all new customers no matter which contract they choose. If you're signing up for any Essential SIM-only plan except the £9 a month one, you will be assured of a £50 worth Amazon voucher.

“At Three we’re constantly looking at ways of extending the range of tariffs on offer to our customers as to ensure we account for all different types of mobile phone users – ranging from the smartphone obsessed, right through to the more infrequent users. While we remain extremely proud of the unique perks we offer on our Advanced plans, such as Feel At Home and tethering, we appreciate that not all of our customers use their phone abroad regularly or use their phone as a hotspot," said Danny Dixon, Director of Customer Strategy at Three.

“These new Essential plans set out to provide a no frills alternative for these customers, providing them with the option to cut out the stuff they don’t need, and get the best value for the stuff they really do. We’re also delighted to be able to offer all new customers an Amazon voucher, just a small way to say ‘thank you’ for joining us on Three,” he added.
