Argos Bush E3X costs £200 and packs a punch

Argos today unveiled Bush E3X, a capable SIM-free smartphone with premium features and a price tag of a mere £200.

Argos' Bush E3X takes its place alongside Vodafone's Smart Ultra 7, OnePlus 3 and ZTE Axon 7 as yet another premium handset at an affordable price.

Smartphones with premium specifications aren't hard to find these days and with the new Bush E3X, Argos has set a new pricing benchmark which most OEMs would struggle to emulate. The phone is priced at just under £200 and if you take a look at its specifications, you'll know that finding a better deal would be pretty tough.

Featuring a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080p, Bush E3X comes with 64GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM, an octa-core MediaTek processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, Dual SIM slots, a MicroSD card slot and a USB Type-C port. It features a 21.5-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX sensors and a front-facing one with a resolution of 8-megapixels. Both cameras can take videos in Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second.

Argos' Bush E3X also arrives with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on-board, fingerprint support, Google On Top and smart battery management features at a highly affordable price point of £199.95. You might want to compare it with the £135 Vodafone Smart Ultra 7 but there a few things beyond the price difference that should make it an even contest. Compared to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage in the Smart Ultra 7, Bush E3X will offer you a 64GB + 4GB combination which is obviously a lot better and unlike the former which is locked to a Vodafone contract, Bush E3X will come SIM-free, letting you add any SIM of your choice to go with your budget and other requirements. Otherwise, both phones are pretty even in terms of display size and resolution, battery size and operating system.

Will the Vodafone Smart Ultra 7 be THE budget phone of 2016?

“The E3X redefines what consumers can expect from what is traditionally known as the ‘mid-range’ smartphone. We’re really pushing the boundaries here to deliver a truly premium experience at a price that’s affordable," said Alyson Lockley, Director of Marketing at Bush.

“With the E3X we wanted to deliver a smartphone that can appeal to everyone without compromising performance – from mobile gamers and power users to the selfie-generation and families. We’ve set a new standard for the mid-range market, and proven you don’t need to pay a premium price for a premium experience,” she added.

Bush E3X will be available to purchase exclusively at Argos from 5th August but if you want to get the phone delivered at your doorstep on the same day, you will need to avail Argos' Fast Track Delivery service and pay an extra £3.95 for each order.
