Will the Vodafone Smart Ultra 7 be THE budget phone of 2016?

Vodafone today launched the Smart Ultra 7, a £135 phone featuring a 5.5-inch display, sharp cameras and the latest Android OS.

You can buy Smart Ultra 7 either on Pay As You Go or on a £19 Pay Monthly deal which will give you 500 minutes and 500MB of 4G data.

Vodafone set to launch Smart Platinum 7 flagship phone for just £300

Weighing at just 150g, the new Smart Utra 7 is a cheaper alternative to the premium Smart Platinum 7 phone which Vodafone launched a few days ago. Smart Ultra 7 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1280 pixels, a MediaTek MT6755M octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an impressive 2,960 mAh battery and the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

Smart Ultra 7, thanks to its decent processor and RAM combination, will let you multi-task as well as download at speeds up to 150Mbps. It also features a MicroSD slot to let you save your media and apps as well as the Android for Work app which maintains separate profiles for your work and personal use.

The 13MP rear camera features flash and the front camera comes with a resolution of 5 megapixels. The phone is available in a choice of Satin Charcoal and Aluminium Silver colours. The price tag, considering the specification line-up and features inside the phone, seems like a real bargain but it is locked in with Vodafone, which means that you won't really be able to choose any attractive MVNO deals or better deals offered by other network operators.
