To be made available to UK customers for just £119 from the end of May, MV1 will bridge the gap between expensive premium phones and low cost handsets by integrating unique design principles with the best features now available in the market. Obi Worldphone has already launched its phones in several markets including Vietnam, Dubai, India and Latin America and the company says that UK is the first country in the west where it is launching its uniquely designed smartphones. However, the company hasn't revealed if it will launch more phones in the UK during the course of the year.
The Mv1 4G smartphone will come with rounded corners at the bottom but curves sharply at the top with right-angled edges. The phone features a large bump at the front which holds the floating IPS display and merges with the main body at the bottom. The display is protected by a ultra-durable Gorilla Glass 3 screen and features oleophobic coating which protects it from smudge and fingerprints.
The MV1 will also come with two Micro-SIM slots as well as a MicroSD slot which will let you add up to 64 GB of additional data inside the phone. The phone itself has an internal storage of 16GB and the display has an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts to the brightness outside. If you are a music buff, the phone will be great for you as it will come with DTS Sound™ which fine-tunes audio for an immersive headphone experience and there is also a secondary microphone for improved sound quality.
MV1 will come with Cyanogen 12.1.1 OS on board and future updates of the operating system will be delivered over the air. The specifications of the phone include a 1.3GHz Snapdragon 212 processor, an Adreno 304 GPU, a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture and features like panorama, face detection and HDR, a 2MP front camera, a 2,5000 mAh battery and Lifespeed interface which lets you position your favourite features and apps right where you need them. The Cyanogen OS will also let you customise the phone's appearance be it the lock screen, wallpaper, fonts, icons and app locations.
“We’re aiming to distinguish ourselves with the highest-level design, uncompromising performance but at an affordable price. We are exceeding consumers’ expectations with the Obi Worldphone MV1 and have overturned misconceptions that stand-out design must come at a price. At Obi, our relentless mission is to deliver products that feel so much more that what consumers pay for,” said Ankush Chatterjee, Vice President of Global Product Marketing at Obi Worldphone.
