Designed as a pure eReader rather than a tablet with Reader functionality, Kindle Oasis is 20 per cent lighter and 30 per cent thinner than the Kindle Voyage which was released last year. It features a metal-coated polymer skin which offers protection from bumps and abrupt falls and the display is protected by chemically-reinforced glass. The WiFi and WiFi + 3G models of the reader weigh 133g and 240g respectively without their removable protective covers, making it the lightest ever.
The six-inch LED display, apart from consuming lesser power, sports a 300 ppi resolution and is 60 per cent brighter than existing Kindle readers. It will also enable you to read effortlessly in all light conditions.
Thanks to the hi-res display, you will be able to view eBooks just like real-life printed pages and instead of swiping across the screen, you will be able to turn pages by simply pushing buttons.
Featuring an internal storage of 4GB, Kindle Oasis works wirelessly, enabling you to download content directly on the device and also comes with Free cloud storage for all Amazon content. A full charge via a USB cable takes around three hours and the Reader can connect with all WiFi networks of 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n standards.
Kindle Oasis will be officially released for sale on 27 April and you will be able to choose from a selection of brown, black and red protective cases. It will cost you £269.99 but you can also choose from cheaper options like Kindle Voyage, Kindle Paperwhite or standard Kindle which cost £169.99, £109.99 and £59.99 respectively.
