Co-engineered by Huawei in collaboration with Leica Camera AG, P9 offers a 5.2-inch Full HD display sheathed by a strong 2.5D glass screen. The handset is also covered by a layer of aerospace-class aluminum with rounded edges that offers protection from falls and regular wear and tear.
Running the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, Huawei P9 will be powered by the latest 64-bit Kirin 955 processor which packs an impressive 2.5GHz of power. The chip works with a generous 3GB RAM to offer seamless performance and a 3,000 mAh battery seems sufficient to ensure an entire day's usage on a single charge.
The phone comes in two internal storage and RAM combinations. While the 32GB storage variant comes with 3GB of RAM, the 64GB variant offers an impressive 4GB of RAM. For users who travel frequently and need to stay connected to 4G networks all the time, the P9 also comes with a virtual-triple-antenna architecture to ensure fast mobile internet round the clock.
The best feature in the P9 is its dual-lens rear camera design. The RGB and monochrome rear cameras offer advanced colour capturing and detailed pictures and offer premium image quality in all light conditions. The monochrome camera' particular functionality is to deliver black and white images of superior quality.
The larger P9 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch pressure sensitive display and a stronger 3,400 mAh battery for a longer run on a single charge under regular usage. The phone also comes with a dual-IC Rapid Charge technology which, as per Huawei, can offer a talk time of 6 hours after a 10-minute charge.
Except for the size and battery power, the P9 and P9 Plus are quite alike in terms of features and performance, offering fingerprint recognition technology, 12MP and 8MP cameras, support for all 4G bands, sleep metal and glass body and powerful batteries.
Both the P9 and P9 Plus will be available to purchase with 4G contracts from all four major networks as well as from Carphone Warehouse.
While the Mystic Silver and Titanium Grey variants of the P9 will be available at Three and Vodafone, O2 and EE will sell only the Titanium Grey variant. The 32GB P9 variant will be available for £449 and the larger P9 Plus with 64GB of storage will retail for £549 .
